In order to bid on anything on eBay, you first must set up an account! Setting up an eBay account is quick, easy, and best of all costs nothing. You have nothing to lose as all information is kept confidential.
First you must go to ebay
Next click the register link
After that you must confirm your date or birth and create a secret question and answer in case you forget your username and/or password and need eBay’s assistance in recovering it.
Also write down this information. The secret questions are “what street did you grow up on,” “what is your mother’s maiden name,” “what is the name of your first school,” “what is your pet’s name,” “what is your father’s middle name,” and “what is your school’s mascot.” Pick the answer you know beyond a doubt and type in that answer. Careful, as the answers are case sensitive.
At the bottom of the page you will find a confirmation security code. This is a group of big numbers bunched together. You need to read off these numbers and type them in order, from left to right, in the field box to the right. Make sure you enter the number order correctly. The reason you do this is to prevent hackers and other scams from penetrating eBay’s site.
Last but not least you must check in the “I agree” box. Do not check the box before you have read and understand eBay’s User Agreement and Privacy Policy, as well as making sure you are 18 years of age.
After you agree, click the “Register” button at the bottom of the page. If the registration screen appears again you will find some red lettering explaining why the registration did not go through. The most likely reason is the username or password you selected is already taken or not allowed on eBay. Change the username and password to something else and hit “Register” again.
A confirmation page will appear letting you know that the registration was successful, you will receive a confirmation email from eBay, and you can now begin using the site.
After you’ve done all this go ahead and buy something cheap just to test out your account and make sure it works. Buy a patch or a sticker just to make sure everything is all set up correctly. It’s also really really fun, so go ahead and start bidding on items.
Happy bidding!
